OUR SPACE

"The Drill Hall" is located at Monte Christo and 1st Ave in Rossland, BC Canada.

Overlooking the bustling downtown core of our charming BC mountain town, a shuttered and empty building sits waiting for its next opportunity to serve our community. Originally used for military training during the gold rush days, Rossland's historic Drill Hall was constructed in 1904. Over the last century, this building has adapted to serve many community purposes, most recently as an annex for a local school. Falling into disrepair, the building has been vacant since 2014, and demolition was considered. But, we know that this building has more to give its community!

The Rossland Arts Centre Society intends to restore and reopen this beloved heritage building as a community hub for all creative pursuits as the “Rossland Drill Hall Arts and Innovation Centre.” We envision the future of this building to be buzzing again with creative energy--artistic works on display in the gallery, drama classes on the stage, pottery studios in the basement, painting classes for all ages, and more! To achieve this, extensive renovation work and code upgrades will be necessary. In every stage of our renovation, we will respect and preserve the heritage characteristics of this amazing building. Help us open this beloved community building to the public again and transform it into the Rossland Drill Hall Arts and Innovation Centre for all to enjoy!

OUR VISION

Our vision is to provide an accessible arts and innovation hub, including studio space, communal work spaces and an art gallery, for the community to gather, collaborate, develop and deepen artistic practice, and celebrate the arts in Rossland.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide a permanent space for Rossland community members of all ages and abilities to create art and be educated in the arts. To establish a central hub for the existing artists and creators to grow, build community, find support, and enrich the social and cultural life of the city.
